Hi,
Any suggestions for the most socially responsible of the Gold Stocks in terms of environment and human rights?
Thanks,
Peter
Hi Peter,
The Guys at Innovest Advisors publish reports on socially responsible investing companies. In the mining sector, Homestake (now a part of Barrick, ABX) was rated 5 out of 19. Newmont, Phelps Dodge and Freeport came in much lower. See:

I know Barrick from their operations in Argentina that they are quite okay, do a lot of "community giving back".
Barrick does have a defined social responsibility charter, see:
http://www.barrick.com/index.aspx?usesid=-1&sid=90
in their company policy. But then again, all others do as well...

Hope that helps.
